Building Nasdaq's Sustainability Product Lineup

Nasdaq is dedicated to helping the financial industry create a sustainable, climate-resilient future and align markets with global climate goals. Our initial goal was to understand their current products and Nasdaq's objectives.

To achieve this, we started by asking the right questions and having collaborative sessions with clients to understand their current workflows and expectations.

After talking with stakeholders and careful planning, we began with
Sustainable Lens, an ESG software designed by experts and powered by AI.

Intro to Sustainable lens 🏔️
Sustainable Lens helps you find investments that are good for the environment and society. They highlight companies making the world cleaner and kinder so you can invest in them.

It's like using a superhero tool to make the world better with your money 🦸🏻.

It comprises of three modules - Trends, Disclosure, and Documents is further enhanced with a myriad of enticing features.

Offering real-time insights for informed investment decisions.

Centralized space with access to crucial financial documents.

Peer list, document bookmarking, alert management, etc.

Trends offers timely updates on sustainable investing through visual graphs to spot trends, aiding informed investment choices.

We kicked off by sketching an initial user flow with
pen and paper. Through multiple iterations, we advanced to crafting a polished flow, defining information architecture, and generating wireframes.

The goal was to prioritize essential data efficiently, displaying maximum information within a single viewport, while also considering small-resolution screens.

Documents
The Documents tab serves as a hub for research and analysis in the field of sustainable investing.

The main objective was to
create a list of various climate documents from specific reporting periods, grouped by companies, with a quick redirection to the main report.

On top of that an integrated document viewer mode for document assessment, with added functionalities such as:



Quick guidance finding, an extracts repository grouped by guidance, and an index for easy navigation across all available documents.

Other features of the dashboard include document bookmarking, peer list management, alert management, etc.
1. Bookmark manager
Instead of searching for documents repeatedly, users can bookmark documents to access them quickly and also share bookmarks with team members to streamline collaboration.

2. Alert management
Users can personalize alerts for research, news, filings, and estimates, tailoring delivery and filter alerts based on peer group and brokers, ultimately enhancing their ability to stay informed
3. Peer list manager
The peer list manager lets users create different groups with various peers. Upon selecting a group, the dashboard exclusively displays the information pertaining to that specific group.

Intro to Other Products 🔧
After spending considerable time studying Nasdaq's design principles, we gained a more profound understanding of how users engage with the products we successfully delivered.
As a result, the client introduced us to two other products intended for their internal users.
Broker’s entitlement tool
Streamlines managing internal user access to broker reports for companies.
Admin tool
Offers internal users detailed information on Nasdaq-listed companies and processes for evaluation.

Conclusion and Takeaways 💡
Working with intricate Nasdaq products expanded my problem-solving skills. In a consulting role, I developed leadership skills guiding clients through UX processes.

Understanding Nasdaq's complex, highly regulated environment taught me how to integrate compliance and regulatory requirements into UX strategies.
